Construction has began on Western Sydneys 'harbour bridge'. The 49-metre wide bridge, which is as wide as the iconic coathanger, is starting to take shape at Badgerys Creek and will transport thousands of cars every day to and from the Nancy-Bird Walton Airport.
"Technically we are building two bridges - one northbound and one southbound, both 39 metres long and with a combined width of 49 metres," Western Sydney International CEO Graham Millett said.
The Nancy-Bird Walton Airport is due to start operating in 2026.
